Mold Fabricator


Job Description:

Fabricate and test airflow molds for internal and external customers using drawings and models.  Fabricate details through setup and operation of machine tools as well as pour quality mold gaskets using best practices.  Assemble and perform necessary integrity checks.  Troubleshoot and repair nonfunctioning airflow seals and molds.  Operate airflow equipment to assist in airflow inspections.  Fabricate airflow tooling for internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Fabricate molds and tooling per applicable drawings, models, and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to produce tooling according to drawings and resolve issues
  • Setup and operate conventional and numerically controlled machines such as mills, grinders, and presses to cut, grind or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
  • Mix and pour high quality gaskets using 3D printed details or creating manual setups
  • Inspect dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished details using calipers, gauge blocks or height masters
  • Verify conformance of assembled fabrications by performing the necessary integrity checks
  • Work effectively as an individual and in a team-based environment
  • All other jobs/tasks as assigned by supervisor
  • Adhere to A2LA, NADCAP, AS9100 and other quality standards

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s) -documentation required
  • Formal training or equivalent on-the job training in machining and at least one of the following fields: pneumatics, mechanical, electrical or other related technology
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of various dimensional, electrical measurement, and test equipment
  • Operation of hand tools, power tools, and machine tools
  • Working knowledge of machine equipment and computers
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, drawings, diagrams, manuals, and GD&T
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English
  • Must have the flexibility to work through completion of time critical projects as necessary
  • Use of Microsoft Office products: Outlook, Excel, Word, and Windows Explorer, etc.
  • Must follow directions provided by production supervisor
  • MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment drug testing will be required.

Preferable Experience:

  • 2 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Skilled in pneumatics, mechanical, computers or other related technologies
  • Knowledge in material machining and material properties

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, use hands, reach with hands, and arms, move throughout the facility, and communicate. Dexterity with hands for manipulating small components/controls and bending frequently at waist. Occasionally work in office environment and use of computer (typical 2-button scroll mouse and keyboard – 5% of the work day).  The employee must frequently lift/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment may be loud.  Must be able to use required personal protective equipment PPE.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
