FAA Testing Required
Job Description:
The Repair Engineer will be responsible for updating, reviewing, and the creation of configuration specific technical documentation. In addition, this position will own new product development implementation and ensure timelines are met; all while supporting operations in a FAR 145 repair station.
Job Function:
Reports directly to the MT Texas Engineering Manager; Works as a part of the engineering team to complete development projects and critical process updates to meet the needs of a growing business; Responsible for evaluating customer drawings and specifications to determine the most efficient repair process, effective fixturing and tooling, and well-defined shop floor instructions to accomplish key quality requirements on aerospace and industrial gas turbine components; Works hands-on, interacting with shop floor personnel, engineering, quality team, and manufacturing groups to ensure lean concepts and continuous improvement plans are created and implemented.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, technical direction and support for all manufacturing processes
- Create, review and edit existing and new work instructions for all manufacturing requirements
- Create, review and edit existing and new standard process procedures
- Create CAD models and drawings of fixturing for new products and processes
- Implement and integrate lean principles and techniques in creation of work instructions and standard procedures
- Performs various test and experiments to maintain required results per work instructions
- Identifies and creates action plan when technical issues are found in work instructions
- Leads new work from specification review to qualification completion
- Must scope, bid, and lead facility improvements needed for current and future work scopes
- Adhere to AS9100 and other quality standards
- Answer NCRs and Workstation audits to support manufacturing requirements
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace/Manufacturing /Chemical engineering or similar
- Must meet ITAR definition of US Person(s) – documentation required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead a group of peers to achieve a project goal
- Ability to write and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Ability to work in a shop environment and support operators with productions needs and clarifications
- Ability to maintain standard process manuals and other quality documents
- Ability to incorporate safe practices in work instructions
- Proficient computer skills and ability to operate Microsoft Office
- Maintain an excellent attendance
- Perform miscellaneous duties and projects as assigned and required
- Function effectively within a team environment
- Must be a self-starter and work with minimum supervision
- FAA testing and training required
- MTI is a safety sensitive manufacturer. As such, successful results of pre-employment FAA drug testing will be required.
Preferable Experience:
- 1 to 5 years’ experience in an Aerospace or Gas Turbine manufacturing environment
- Experience in a Repair & Overhaul environment
- FAA certification such as certified repairman or other FAA or FAA designee position
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
- Experience with chemical stripping or similar process
- Experience working with manufacturing based technology, processes and principles
- Solidworks modeling experience
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, move throughout the facility, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and communicate. Work in office environment and use of computer (typical 2-button, scroll mouse and keyboard – 75% of the work day). The employee must frequently lift or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
