Laser

Das Laserschweißen erfolgt bei Meyer mit Nd:YAG pulsed beam transmitted via conventional optical train. Nd:YAG lasers are the most suited beam frequency for use on high-nickel alloys, such as those used in the aerospace industry. Meyer kaufte unseren ersten Laser im Jahr 1985 and since then have developed the process in-house to suit the needs of our customers. Having control over the machine, software and future support allows us to be more flexible. Meyer has developed several applications overcoming dissimilar material joining processes including one patent.

By infinite control over power, duration and pulse profile, we can tune the welding to match that of the physical limits of the material joined. Calibration and alignment are checked daily as well as monitoring beam quality before, during and after running production.

Typical production activities include:

  • Cooling tubes
  • Baffles
  • Impingement plates
  • Plugs
  • Adding filler metal to the weld pool
